WORRIED ABOUT the LITTLES?

SPRINGFIELD MO AND SURROUNDING AREAS

Worry how the pictures will turn out? Me too! I get it. I've been in situations that I've been horribly uncomfortable worrying about how my kids will behave and what people might say. I've left walking away feeling like a failure as a parent. This is what drives me to make parents and children feel comfortable as themselves and to capture their real personalities.

As a mom of four, I know each child is different, what makes them laugh or cringe is different. Their personalities are different. Their needs are different. I like to spend time before your session learning about you and your family, so I capture what means the most to you from a bashful grin to a smirk.

Life experiences have shaped who I am

I love taking the season of life you are in and creating something tangible for you to carry with you. It doesn't all have to be smiles or celebratory events. Sometimes the most provoking photos I've created are those out of the most pain. Open discussions about where you are at in life help me to create emotion you are experiencing.

I DIDN'T
REALIZE HOW
PRICELESS IT WOULD
truly BE

My daughter was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma brain tumor at the age of 17 months. We spent 19 months in treatment at St Jude's Children's Hospital. The frailty of life became personal. Shelby, my daughter, lived as if nothing were wrong. She laughed and played until her body would not allow her to. She passed away 19 months after that life changing diagnosis.

Just six weeks before Shelby passed away, we were able to have the most meaningful photos taken. The photographer we worked with captured her beautiful smile and timeless photos. She captured four generations of our family. She captured the essence of Shelby in a still photo. For this, I am forever grateful.

Since her diagnosis, I've found myself capturing the everyday stories, and the big stories, in my life with my camera. Since her death and the tragic experiences I witnessed each day at work, I continually recognize the significance of those simple everyday moments. I've spent time capturing my life's story, my story of parenthood, my story of grief, my story of joy and the beauty of life that surrounds me.
